Thinking about the present through the lens of history

History does not disappear. It changes its language. The names change. The empires change. The technologies change. The arguments change.

But the old questions remain:

Who has the power to tell the story?
Who owns the wealth?
Who defines civilization?
Who pays for progress?
And whose memory is allowed to survive?

These writings are an attempt to ask those questions without accepting the answers already provided.

Jorge Majfud

Born in Uruguay, Jorge Majfud has lived and worked across multiple continents. He currently resides in the United States, teaching at Jacksonville University. His writings have appeared in newspapers, magazines, academic publications, and international media, and have been translated into several languages.
